Hi, Stafford, could you spare a minute to tell us a bit about the career progression at Enterprise?
Absolutely - although I'm not sure a minute will be long enough! Before I joined Enterprise I thought it was a pretty straightforward company that just rented cars to anyone who wanted one. But once I'd read about the Management Trainee programme, I was keen to take a closer look at what was on offer. And it didn't take long for me to realise how wrong my first impressions were.
For a start the company is huge. I was surprised by the sheer size and growth of Enterprise in Europe, and I couldn't believe how much goes on behind the scenes. I was really attracted by the fact that the company was willing to take on graduates and spend the time teaching them how to run a successful business. I found I was given real responsibilities from day one, and I've been adding to them ever since.
We really get to challenge ourselves, see every aspect of the business and gain recognition based on the merit of our work. Promotions are always determined by the results you get, not by seniority or how long you've been with the company. So when I got promoted to assistant manager, I knew that my hard work had really been appreciated. I'd hate to be stuck in some mid-level job just waiting for someone to retire before I can progress. Luckily for me I found Enterprise, and I know that's not something I'll have to worry about.
In fact worrying about work is not something I've had to do since I joined the company, and I think a lot of that is down to the environment at Enterprise. It's not just that we're all motivated and keen to give our customers a great service, we also get to work with a great mix of people. I feel part of a really tight-knit team that gets on well together and likes to have a laugh. And I love the fact that however the day goes, we're always smiling by the end of it.
