George O'Connor Becomes Ireland's First Irish City Manager
George O'Connor has seen a lot of firsts in Ireland - he was the country's first Branch Manager, the first to open the Corporate Sales Department and the first to open the Remarketing Department. This summer, George became the first City Manager in Ireland who is native to Ireland.
George says he is ready to help the team bring Enterprise to a new level in the country. "We are not really new in Ireland anymore," says George. "Our expectations have all been raised." George has seen Ireland and its people embrace the company, from the first 25 vehicles on rent milestone to the most recent successes the company is experiencing.
Mike Hawkins, Vice President and General Manager for Ireland, says George's performance within the group led to his promotion. George brings "an unbelievable work ethic," Mike says, "He is very dedicated and customer-service oriented." George's new role also puts an Irish face for Enterprise for both employees and customers, Mike says. "It sets a great example for the folks we are hiring here locally, and speaks to the great opportunities we have here."
George began with Enterprise as a Management Trainee in Boston, and moved to Car Sales, where he worked as an Account Executive and Senior Account Executive before becoming Branch Manager. He has a wife Edel, a 5-year-old son George, a 3-year-old daughter Stephanie and a 7-month-old son Fionnan.
