The institute for renewable fuels
In October of last year, our company announced the Enterprise Rent-A-Car 50 Million Tree Pledge in which we committed to planting one million trees a year for the next 50 years in national forests in the nations where we do business.
Today, our company announced a second major component to our comprehensive environmental platform. Working in conjunction with one of the leading plant science research facilities, the Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis, the company has established the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Institute for Renewable Fuels. Creation of the Institute is being made possible by a $25 million grant from Jack and Susan Taylor, and is part of the ongoing celebration and recognition of our 50 years in business.
The goal of the Institute is to use plant science to find new ways to create fuel from renewable and more reliable sources.
For 50 years, this company that my father built from the ground up has relied on the availability and affordability of vehicles and fuel. Today, more than ever, it is essential that we pursue new energy sources that will sustain not only our business, but also the environment around us for future generations.
The creation of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Institute for Renewable Fuels sends a clear message that my family and this company are committed to do our part to address this critical public need.
