- Job title: Phone Team Manager
Could you spare a minute to tell us a little about your job and how you’ve progressed at Enterprise?
Sure. I’d love to, When I left college, I went to work in the telecommunication department of a big company. I thought I would, stick it out. But I was 18 years old and had loads of other things on my mind… I wanted to travel and see the world. So I did. Before I joined Enterprise, all I knew was that it was an American car rental firm that cared about employees. The people I knew who worked there had so many good things to say about the business. My worst nightmare would be to have a job without any opportunity to develop – the opposite, in fact, of Enterprise.
I worked in the UK head office for around three years. When a job at the Contact Centre came up, I saw a great opportunity to change my career. I wanted to experience working on the front line of the business. One thing is absolutely certain about every role I’ve had so far - I’ve had the time of my life. And the Contact Centre is no exception – it’s such a fun place to work. I’ve loved every minute of it. My team has won “team of the month” for ten months running. I like feeling rewarded – and I know they do too.
Here, it’s all about the people, they make the business special. It’s like that in everywhere you go – very consistent and positive. For me the opportunities to learn and develop also really stand out. I feel motivated. We have more branches than our competitors and a great vision of being local to our customers. The atmosphere here at the contact centre is really enjoyable and fun. Obviously my job is very people based – it involves a lot of face to face working, which I enjoy. So I really look forward to coming in to work everyday. I can honestly say there isn’t anything I don’t like about my job! We trust each other and don’t get involved in finger pointing.
My job has changed a number of times – which is the best thing about Enterprise. First I managed the fax team, then the callback team, then the E-max team and now I am managing one of the five phone teams. There’s a real emphasis on changing with the times. And that applies to you and your customers.
I’m a manager now and that’s an achievement I’m proud of. I have a lot to look forward to. And, I know recognition and being treated well will be part of my progress. My goal is to move to the next management level – and I’m on my way!
