IAN
- Job title: Department Manager
Ian, as a former graduate trainee, would you say that working for Enterprise has lived up to expectations?
And then some. I originally joined the company as a management trainee after leaving university, but three and a half years down the line I decided I wanted a different focus for my career. Because Enterprise promotes from within, I replied to an internal posting for a Team Manager in the call centre - and just a year later I was promoted to Department Manager, with around forty people under my supervision, including a couple of team managers. That's what I love about this company - it's so flexible and supportive of people with ambition. Anything is available to anyone.
And every day is different. Of course, a large part of my time is spent on employee development - doing performance reviews and providing extra training wherever it's needed, so that people can realise their full potential. I also have a lot of dealings with suppliers, such as the companies working directly with Enterprise.
As for the social side, you couldn't ask for more. There are balls every year at Christmas and in the summer, plus our top performers are taken out on a regular basis. Paintball, bowling, karaoke - you name it, we like to have fun with a capital F.
